ABOUT US

Trucks & Trailers are a New Zealand owned business and are the authorised sale, service, and parts dealership for all Mercedes-Benz Trucks & Vans and Freightliner Trucks in the North Island. Trucks & Trailers are experts in Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner heavy and light commercial products.

Trucks & Trailers has a team of 95 talented people, across five North Island locations: South Auckland, Rotorua, Mt Maunganui, Palmerston North, and Wellington.

Trucks & Trailers is owned and managed by Mark Wright.

History

Don & Judy Wright began the business in 1987. Don started a heavy truck repair service from the back of a ute while running a transport company of his own.
The company soon grew with its reputation for quality work, and 24 hour service. It was this reputation that led the company to securing a parts and service dealership for heavy European trucks and opening the first Trucks & Trailers premises on March 12, 1988.

In 1991 Trucks & Trailers became part of the Mercedes-Benz franchise network and began selling. Shortly after this we established two additional branches (Palmerston North and Rotorua), which became sales operations as well.

In 1995 Freightliner Trucks was added to the Mercedes-Benz Group.

Trucks & Trailers helped to introduce Freightliner trucks to the New Zealand market, not only selling the vehicles but making additions and improvements to suit the local conditions including converting the left hand drive FLB, FLD and FL80 models to right hand drive, and adding twin-steer axles to 6x4 FLB and Argosy trucks.
The conversion project was so successful that Trucks & Trailers actually demonstrated the conversion to right hand drive at the Freightliner factory in Portland USA, helping set up the methods for production in right hand drive that are still used by the factory today.

In February 1997, a new purpose-built facility was opened in Auckland which is still in use today. This is one of a very limited number of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealerships in Australasia to have a glass showroom for presenting new vehicles.
In 2000 Mercedes-Benz Van sales, service, and parts were added to Trucks & Trailers portfolio.
